This is an addendum to "The Story of One POW/MIA Bracelet." You may want to read Parts 1-3 first...

After this story appeared in the Salisbury Post, one of my high school classmates, Deena Moore, called asking for me to visit her. I did go visit her several times. You see, Deena was in the last throws of a losing battle with cancer. During our final visit together before her death, she went back into her bedroom and returned with a treasure from her jewelry box... her POW/MIA bracelet bearing the name, Frederick Cristman, our former high school friend.

She had obtained Freddy’s bracelet back in 1971 when he first went missing in action in Laos and had worn it until the swelling in her wrist forced her to keep it in her jewelry box. Deena gave me this bracelet to replace the one I had sent to Mrs. Getchell and asked me to wear it, so that Frederick Cristman will never be forgotten. I will wear it until Freddy comes home.

This Memorial Day, please take time to honor and remember all those brave souls whose ultimate sacrifice have made the world a better place for all humanity... and not just on Memorial Day - EVERY DAY.
